Buying a kitten
How much does a ragdoll kitten cost?
Our ragdoll kittens range from $2,500 to $3,500 depending on color, pattern, and markings. Rarer colorations such as lilac and chocolate sit at the top of that range. Every kitten includes TICA registration, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip, a spay/neuter contract, and our two-year health guarantee.
How does the deposit and waitlist work?
A non-refundable $500 deposit reserves your place on the waitlist and is applied to the kitten's price. When a litter is born, families choose kittens in waitlist order. If no kitten in that litter is the right match, your deposit rolls to the next litter — you are never pressured into a kitten that isn't right for your home.
Can I reserve a specific kitten before it's born?
You can reserve a place on the waitlist, but not a specific kitten before birth. Colors and personalities can't be predicted with certainty, and we won't promise what genetics haven't decided. Once kittens are five to six weeks old and their temperaments are clear, waitlist families select in order.
Do you ship kittens?
We do not ship kittens as cargo. Kittens go home either by in-person pickup at our home in Hudson, NY, or via a flight nanny who carries your kitten in-cabin. We're happy to help coordinate travel.
Health & genetics
What health testing do you do?
Both parents of every litter are screened by echocardiogram for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) and DNA-tested for PKD1 (polycystic kidney disease). Our breeding cats are also tested negative for FeLV and FIV. We share the actual results — not just a claim — before you commit.
What does the two-year health guarantee cover?
Our guarantee covers congenital and genetic defects, including HCM and PKD, for two years from birth. If an independent veterinarian diagnoses a covered condition, we replace the kitten or refund per the contract terms. Full details are on our health guarantee page.
Are the kittens vaccinated before they go home?
Yes. Kittens receive their first FVRCP vaccination around eight weeks and the second around twelve weeks. Kittens leaving at twelve weeks or later have completed their initial series. Rabies is given per your state's schedule, usually by your own veterinarian.
At what age do kittens go home?
Kittens go home no earlier than twelve weeks. Those extra weeks with mother and littermates are when the confidence, litter habits, and easy temperament ragdolls are known for actually develop. We don't cut this short.
Bringing your kitten home
What supplies do I need before pickup?
At minimum: a large litter box with low-dust litter, food and water dishes, a sturdy scratching post, a steel grooming comb, and the food your kitten is already eating. We send every family home with a detailed checklist and a starter supply of food to avoid stomach upset.
How do I introduce my kitten to other pets?
Slowly, and through a door at first. Set your kitten up in one room for the first few days, let existing pets smell under the door, then supervise short introductions. Ragdolls are famously easygoing, but every animal deserves a gradual, low-stress introduction.
What food should I feed my ragdoll?
Keep your kitten on the diet it arrives on for at least the first two weeks, then transition gradually if you wish. We feed a high-moisture, protein-forward diet — see our shop and our guide to the best food for ragdoll kittens for specifics.
