Our promise, in writing
The two-year ragdoll health guarantee
Every Golden Ragdolls kitten comes with a written, signed health guarantee. This page summarizes it in plain language — the full contract is provided with your kitten and takes precedence.
What's covered
- Congenital and hereditary defects that materially affect the kitten’s health, for two years from date of birth.
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) — both parents are echocardiogram-screened before breeding.
- Polycystic kidney disease (PKD1) — both parents are DNA-tested clear.
- Fatal genetic conditions diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian and confirmed, where applicable, by a second opinion.
What's not covered
- Conditions arising from injury, neglect, poor diet, obesity, or exposure to toxins after the kitten leaves us.
- Infectious disease contracted after placement (e.g. from unvaccinated animals or an unquarantined environment).
- Parasites, minor upper-respiratory infections, and other common, treatable conditions typical of any young cat.
- Any claim where the kitten was not examined by a licensed vet within 72 hours of going home.
How a claim works
- 01
Vet exam within 72 hours
Have your kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within three days of pickup. This protects both of us and validates your guarantee.
- 02
Notify us in writing
If a covered condition is diagnosed, contact us in writing within five business days of the diagnosis with your vet’s report.
- 03
Independent confirmation
For hereditary conditions we may request confirmation from a second licensed veterinarian, at our shared discretion.
- 04
Replacement or refund
Per the signed contract, we will replace the kitten from a future litter or issue a refund. You keep the original kitten in most replacement cases.
Vet documentation we require
To keep a guarantee valid, we ask for the initial 72-hour wellness exam record, a copy of any diagnosis being claimed, and — for hereditary conditions — the diagnostic imaging or genetic test results your veterinarian relied on. We keep the parents' own HCM echocardiograms and PKD DNA results on file and will share them with your vet on request.
We also require that your kitten be spayed or neutered by the age specified in your contract (unless you have purchased breeding rights) and kept as an indoor cat. These terms exist to protect your kitten's health and your coverage — not to catch you out.
